Life Is A Dream by Lolaa-S Life Is A Dream by Lolaa-S
.
Life is a dream,
from which only death can wake us up.

---

Apart from the usual hair painting (which you know is efficient when you can't remember yourself where you added some hair!), I discovered a new little postwork detail which consists in adding a reflection into the eyes, when you forgot one, or worked with a lighting which didn't allow any in the actual render.
It's amazing how sometimes a tiny thing can add a lot!
...
... Oh, and I feel great, thank you ;)

It's very important for me to have words written under a picture, to give it a kind of story, a direction to follow, a particular 'lighting'... and I'm really glad when someone likes them and spots them out, so thank you!!

Whoa! This is intense  I'm a little speechless as to what to comment, the image is so striking and really leaping over boundaries. Yet dark in the most intense way.

The set up and pose are exceptional right down to her expression. I do think her hair and eyes came out very well, your techniques are awesome!

I had really been wanting to do this picture for a long time before I could work on it. I have the strange feeling that my days have reduced to something like 20 hours, where are these extra 4 hours gone?

I wanted it both dark and light enough to allow the viewer to rest a little, to think that this-is-not-true.
The pose was really easy to work on, even if hands are soemtimes a little tricky, and I had to look at myself in a mirror about dozens of times to get it right :D

Thank you, darling, for your nice comment

That's a great image, not to say because i actually had thought about doing a render with almost the same motive myself. Great minds think alike
The skin textures are very detailed and realistic, not like most others who are available, which i often find to be a bit too "plain and spotless" for my liking. I wonder which you might have used...?

Great minds think alike, yes, that's true :)
I have seen quite a number of pictures posted here or there which represented an idea I had in mind for a long time, and I thought the same... Is inspiration like an infinite well of ideas, in which we sometimes take the same as our neighbour? Might be :)

The skin texture is one of the best I've found so far, she's Apographix's SaraLee. A pure gem
Thank you for your words :)

Ah, but it can also be a nightmare from which death is the only release. That is why some people do that.

Great idea :)

Oh I see your point here, but this other idea would have given birth to a different story... and picture. At least with me as the author :)

Thank you, Peter

I don't make points :giggle: I offer my silly views and things that pop into my mind when I see an image ;) Yes, it would no doubt have been a darker image with the other idea.
This looks more like how one feels sometimes when one did something stupid. Hihi... there is another view

Maybe you used the dodge/burn brushes for the eyes?

Offering your views, silly or not, is always something which I find priceless
Even your other view, why not... we're slowly drifting from the subject here but hey, this is a possibility :D

I don't often use the dodge/burn tool in my pictures, but now that you're talking about this, a little dodge may have been welcome here ;)

I tend to drift sometimes

Wanted to make sure you knew about the brush thing
I rarely need to do anything about the eyes in photoshop.
Btw, if you want to talk about Poser stuff you can always use notes :)

Well I don't want to stick to any particular tool or technique or texture, or anything in fact, so every picture is like a whole new world for me.
I could, of course, always use the same eyes, which I would be sure of (mostly concerning the reflections, because a lot of the ones I have don't have any), or always work with the same lighting, but that would be TOO EASY for Miss Complicated Things!

You can use notes too, what do you think? :flirty: ;)

Well, I can put a glint in the eye of the Poser ladies, no need to use the same eyes all the time :eyes:

I will write to you soon ;) :rose:

Of course you don't need to use the same eyes always... if I had to do that I'd be bored even by my own creations
Adding some reflection in the eyes is really a lovely detail, I am not really used to that but it's part of my learning process. Ah, it's hard to be an autodidact! (I'm joking, that's the best way to learn, at least for me, little by little, and from my previous mistakes ;) )

Lolaa, I think this is an absolutely wonderful image. Brilliant imagination. You have captured the darker element of death/suicide (if waking from a dream can be called that!), but kept the element of innocence in her face.

I have one, and only one criticism. And that is the lighting. It feels as though she has indoor/studio lighting reflecting from her skin, rather than the more atmospheric/ambient lighting one would expect from her surroundings (background environment etc). I think this is particularly evident from the sheen on her hair.

But truly, apart from this small detail, this is a great capture :)

Thank you for this constructive criticism, I think you're right, definitely.
While working on the picture, I noticed that there was a little difference between what was and what should have been, but I thought this light coming directly on her face could be this "white light" you see when you're about to die. I so wanted to keep this lighting effect that I forgot about any kind of realism here, to a certain extent.
Now that you've spotted it this way, I wish I had worked on that... again, thanks for the feedback :)

And thank you for your nice words ;)

THAT is a cool effect. And the postwork on the eyes worked out really well. What a cool idea and I like the look of wonder on her face, like she's off in her own world :D

Ahh the eyes. That little glint can completely make the difference between looking like a living creature or a 3d mesh doll.

You're right, eyes can make a huge difference, as well as the expression. Someone once spotted that I left a character with the basic 'non-expressive expression' on her face and I was forced to admit that she was right, it was a mistake... because a little expression, even very subtle, adds to the realism. And eye reflections :)

Thank you for your comment, I liked to work on that picture since the effect was so present in my head I had to do it :mwahaha:

Darkly lovely, Lolaa..
Great concept, beautifully executed (excuse the pun).
I agree about the dot of reflection in the eye. I've started doing that in most of my renders.. it makes a big difference.
Great work, hon
Thanks for sharing
